The 2012 Lake Geneva Triathlon Series will be held in the
small lakeside village of Williams Bay, Wisconsin, which lies on the north
shore of Geneva Lake. Geneva Lake is a clear, spring-fed
lake that is 9 miles long and 170 feet deep. The scenic views and
unbelievable hills provide the ingredients for a very memorable
race.
For 2012, the Lake Geneva Triathlon Series consists of
Half Extreme, Olympic, Sprint and Super Sprint distances. The courses
start with a swim at Edgewater Park beach in downtown Williams Bay,
followed by a bike course on rural roads which lie north and west of the
Village of Williams Bay. All triathlons culminate with a challenging run
route on the beautiful tree lined residential streets west of Edgewater
Park.
Williams Bay is home to a beautiful lakeside park
(Edgewater Park) including a beach and a public boat launching facility.
Williams Bay is named for Captain Israel Williams of Connecticut, a War of
1812 sea captain, who with several of his sons, settled in the area in
1835. Across Geneva Street to the north of the park is the 231 acre
Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy. It is the most intact, undisturbed and
highest quality wetland of Geneva Lake. Aurora University (George Williams
Campus) is just a short ride from the downtown and has lodging available
for the triathlon at a very reasonable rate. Call 262-245-8520 or email staygwc@aurora.edu
to reserve your space today (link)!
Additional lodging option is available at Harbor View Motel, 866-806-7704.
Relax & enjoy your triathlon achievement lakeside at
the Lake Geneva Wine Festival on the nearby George Williams College
campus. Novice and connoisseur alike will savor exceptional wines from
around the world paired with food samplings from local award winning
restaurants. Chef demonstrations, auction activities and a wine lover's
marketplace will provide entertainment. All proceeds benefit local
charities.
